Good times here at Rush House. We’ve welcomed another young person into our service, providing them with safe and homely accommodation and ensuring she had essentials in her room to make her feel welcome. We have assisted one of our Talent Match service users acquire uniform for his new placement (which I am told he loved modelling for staff). We have done some great consultation with T and A this morning getting their ideas for a new project we have in mind…watch this space…..
Our deputy manager is currently on his way to RUFC where we have been fortunate to acquire some tickets for the under 17s international game this afternoon, a great opportunity for our young people. We even have tickets for the final!!
I have to say a big shout out to our fabulous bedsit tenant A. She has gone above and beyond this week in engaging with staff. We are really passionate at Rush House about young people being involved in our service delivery and she really has taken up this challenge. She is currently working on a notice board for young people, a space where they can share ideas, passions etc She has supported Steve to do a leaflet drop around Ferham to advertise his service around tenancy rights and has done some great consultation with me today around a new project that we are proposing……in short she has been a star and is exactly what brings us to work each day!!! Thank you A, keep working hard, we need your ideas.
On top of this we’ve had some lovely feedback from our colleagues over at Shiloh about the work Steve has been doing over there around tenancy rights and housing. They commented on his approach and positive attitude to service users which is great to hear. We truly value our collaboration with other services and it’s always good to hear where things are going well.
I’ll leave you with this lovely quote from one of our ex-tenants who visited us earlier this week and left this message on our Facebook account;
“I am so much happier and a lot better than I was. Thanks for everything you and other rush house staff did for me and ****. Appreciate it x”
For any staff working in this arena that pretty much sums up why we do what we do……
Wow what an amazing few weeks it has been at Rush House as we continue to welcome new tenants into our accommodation and have a number of new tenants ready to move in. It has been a really positive time, inviting young people & workers into our accommodation, sharing information about what we do and inviting them to experience a supportive and safe environment.
Today sees us welcoming Crisis Skylight back into service to deliver exciting activities and courses to our client group. Cooking today with Jonathan 10am to 12pm and tomorrow Music Tech from 3pm to 5pm. We’d like to extend our gratitude as always to the lovely people at Crisis, particularly Kellie and Nick who have been so supportive in assisting us to decide a timetable to appeal to our tenants.
We are now seeking to recruit a new member to our ever growing (and dare I say wonderful!) staff team. If you have a passion and flare for engaging with young people, if you have previous experience of working with people experiencing homelessness we’d love to hear from you.
