Rush House young people step up again!

If ever I needed any more proof that our service users are fantastic young people (I didn’t by the way, I already knew) I got it today. I decided to do a “shift” today to give me the opportunity to work alongside our lovely support worker team and to spend some quality time with young people, particularly as I missed some days this week due to illness.

What a great evening I have had. A good few hours with our lovely young people who have given me their time and their energy to do some feedback around our moving in process and the standard of our accommodation. I have to say that the feedback was on the whole really positive with comments such as ” I was made to feel welcome” which is ofcourse what we always aim for. We also did some consultation questionnaires to feed into a funding application that our CEO is currently working on and again I have to commend our service users for taking the time to explain their feedback and share their experiences, this will hopefully make our funding application even stronger and show our ongoing commitment to engaging service users in the development of our services.

We have been busy generating interest in an upcoming event at Maltby Club which will see one of our lovely young men take part in an amateur Boxing event. He has worked so hard and really dedicated himself to his training so ofcourse we will be there to support him and ensure that he generates enough ticket sales to be entered. It is so important that our service users feel that we support and encourage them in their aspirations and it is so good to see this young man so focused. We wish him the very best of luck and will be there cheering him on (albeit quietly from the back, at his request!).

Lots to look forward to in the coming weeks as we will shortly be welcoming a new member to the team following our recent recruitment. We also have some really good news to share……watch this space!

Happy Bank Holiday weekend folks!
