Well it’s been another busy period at Rush House as our services continue to provide invaluable support to vulnerable young people and local tenants.
Some great collaboration happening between Rush House and Clifton Learning Partnership under the Building Stronger Communities funding. As part of this work we can advocate on behalf of tenants experiencing issues with their landlords and vice versa. As such we have just secured one family a goodwill reduction on their rent after experiencing issues with their lighting for a prolonged period. This is just one example of where we can support tenants to better understand their rights and responsibilities. If you know anyone who might benefit from such support, please contact Steve Harris on 01709 369295.
Our Talent Match team goes from strength to strength achieving some fantastic outcomes for young people who are furthest from the job market. We have recently heard that one young person who we have supported for some time has been accepted to University to study the subject of her choice. Much hard work and personal development on her part and the guidance and support of her coach to get her there. We are so proud of what she and many others have achieved whilst using the Talent Match service.
In terms of our supported accommodation, we are in the final stretch of our period of refurbishment as we have had the carpet fitters from Signature Floor Coverings in today to carpet the last 3 rooms in our Lindum Terrace site and have been measured up for blinds by Steve at Regency Blinds. So lucky to still have the support of local businesses who go above and beyond to provide the best possible service for us. The last 3 single person flats are getting the final touches before being released for occupation. We are so pleased with what we have achieved and proud to say that at our recent Open Day on March 9th, we had some lovely feedback, this being one comment;
“Thank you for having me over and being so welcoming. The accommodation is looking great. It was lovely to meet you, I’m sure I will see you again soon.”
We were so happy to have the opportunity to touch base with so many of our valued partners, including REMA, Mesmac, Barnardos & Crisis Skylight to name but a few and so pleased that they are as keen as we are to continue our collaboration. Which brings me to where we are today…… We are already accommodating young people via the 16+ White Rose Framework but have beds available for vulnerable young people needing a safe and homely environment with a staff team who are devoted to supporting them to achieve their goals. Unfortunately we are no longer able to accept general referrals from partner agencies, unless the young person has a statutory entitlement (e.g. Leaving Care) as these are fully funded placements which would need the approval of the Local Authority. If you have any queries, please do contact us on 01709 369295
All that’s left for me to say is thank you to all of you who have supported us over the last 30+ years and more importantly through the last difficult few months. We truly value the relationships we have with partners and are as committed as ever to giving our service users the best possible start on their journey to independence. A huge thank ofcourse to the staff team who continue to come to work each day full of passion and enthusiasm….we’re in this together! Oh and good luck and welcome to Kathy who started her induction with us this week. Welcome to the team!
